John Serry (New York)
John Serry is an award-winning, Grammy-nominated pianist and composer who has recorded several albums for major labels as well as independent releases. He has received critical acclaim in virtually every leading jazz publication, including a four-star review in Downbeat magazine. His long and varied career has included performances of his music and with his bands at major venues (Blue Note, Birdland, Montreux Jazz Festival, Covent Garden), as well as collaborations with well-known artists and productions, notably as a pianist with Patti Austin, the BBC Big Band, and Broadway shows. He has composed scores for Hollywood films and performed on percussion with Aretha Franklin, Liza Minnelli, in Broadway shows, and at classical music concerts (featuring works by Stravinsky, Bartók, and Varèse, for example, at Lincoln Center). He has composed film scores, commercials, and classical works at major concert venues (Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center). His albums and bands have featured John Riley, Peter Erskine, Bob Sheppard, Anthony Jackson, Chris Potter, Jimmy Johnson, and many others. John Serry will be joined on Saturday, November 26, 2026, at the Hibou Greek Bistro by guitarist Nicolas Lupovici.
Nicolas Lupovici
After studying classical guitar at the École Normale de Musique de Paris and then at the CRR in Perpignan, Nicolas Lupovici took classes with Serge Lazarevitch and earned his DEM in jazz. Passionate about teaching, he earned his State Teaching Diploma and has been teaching at the Perpignan Regional Conservatory since 2006. Thanks to his versatility, he performs in various classical and jazz ensembles: the Quatuor de Guitares Méditerranée, the duo “À Deux Guitares…,” the Perpignan-Catalonia Symphony Orchestra (Daniel Tosi),…as well as with André Mallau, Charles Loos, Claude Civelli, Jean-Louis Chautemps, Serge Lazarevitch, John Serry, Jean-Luc Lehr, Radek Knop, and others. Nicolas Lupovici has recorded several CDs and participated in various festivals and radio programs.
